Amy Carmichael of Dohnavur

Amy Carmichael of Dohnavur

"Amy Carmichael of Dohnavur" is written by Frank L Houghton. Amy Carmichael, born in 1867 in the village of Millisle, Ireland, gave herself unconditionally to Christ. She went first to Japan but was told she could not withstand the climate. Following a short term in Ceylon, presently Sri Lanka, she landed in India in 1895 and remained there without a single furlough until she died on January 18, 1951. You will want to read: about her childhood and her call to missionary service; of her similarities and great differences to Mme. Currie, a contemporary also born in 1867; of the love which caused the children to call her "Amma" a term which means Mother; and of the continuing work of the Dohnavur Fellowship.
