New Testament History

"New Testament History" is written by F. F. Bruce. The classic text is authoritative and ably researched. The first third of the book recounts the Roman and Jewish context, then fifty pages survey the lives of John and Jesus, and the last half is a history of the first two generations of the Church. This is considered the best historical study by an evangelical Christian. 461 pages, softcover from Doubleday.
