By My Spirit

"By My Spirit" is written by J. Goforth. 'Not by might, nor by power, but "By My Spirit," says the Lord.' Zechariah 4:6. With firm conviction in those words, and complete dedication to their truthfulness, Dr. Jonathan Goforth writes of his missionary experiences in China during the 1900's. Frustrated and despairing of hope, Dr. Goforth returned to his beloved China mission field, dissatisfied with the progress he had made and the seeming ineffectiveness of his ministry. But he did not despair for long. "By My Spirit" is Dr. Goforth's written witness to a great outpouring of God's Spirit, and his utter joy at seeing God move among the people he loved. Goforth's unadorned account of those years makes enormously encouraging reading. It is all true, and seems almost too good to be real. But real it is, made possible by the same Spirit of God present in our own day.
